Flour Sack Gestures

Image
Howdy,                    This was a gesture sheet creating a flour sack character for the next assignment. I tried to create a chubby little guy and I think I succeeded well enough. Although shifting into proper character animation, I can tell this is going to get much harder. Particularly trying to imagine how the character acts and squishes as a '3D' object was difficult. I am more than willing to try my best moving forward, though. That is all, Sage Boutelle

Overlapping Action

Howdy,                  This was the first assignment I felt the need to redo because I was not happy with my initial attempt. This extra practice allowed me to have a consistent size of both the ball and the rope length. Trying to create a natural looking pendulum on a moving block was interesting as it incorporates both overlapping action and an understanding of momentum. That is all, Sage Boutelle 9/28/21

Bouncing Ball Animation

Howdy,          This was the first properly difficult assignment of the course. It did not help that I decided to put in a pendulum to make my life harder unnecessarily. What was interesting was that my baseline understanding of physics was extremely useful in conceptualizing how a ball bounces in an arc. I still have to work on my volume control and in places I could slow down the motion more (especially toward the tops of arcs) to make the motion feel more natural. Timing And Spacing

Howdy,           This provided an interesting insight into the basic principles of animation. I was pleasantly surprised to find that a lot of the concepts and language is akin to that of Adobe After Effects (as well as Premiere Pro). Although it is a far more manual process than those software. Going forward I will try harder to maintain volume control on objects I am animating as you can see size consistency was a problem with this first assignment. That is all, Sage Boutelle 9/9/21
